Joost Reek appointed as distinguished research professor

Professor Joost Reek of the Research Priority Area Sustainable Chemistry has been appointed as distinguished research professor at the Faculty of Science with effect from 1 January 2017.

In his position as a distinguished research professor, Joost Reek, professor of supramolecular catalysis at the Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences, will serve as the figurehead of the research focus area of Sustainable Chemistry and help to facilitate its ongoing development.

Advising

In addition to research, a distinguished research professor is tasked with advising the dean on relevant administrative issues that are critical to the development of the exact sciences. Distinguished research professors are able to carry out their work without being associated with a specific institute, meaning that they are not bound by any predefined obligations.
